Philip’s Parent

Remember Philip the Phoenix? Here’s his parent! His parent is supportive of and patient with him on his quest to better himself, often giving him little pointers. His parent communicates nonverbally, saving energy to spew flames when push comes to shove. (You can also see where he gets his bright colours from.)

A little side note, too: I know I don’t really post on a schedule anymore, and I apologize for that… it’s mostly due to life happening and my getting distracted by other things like fandoms. I’ve been drawing a lot of fan art recently, and I’d like to make a page for that at some point, I’m just busy with work and life is all. But I’m always happy to add to this page and create characters whenever I can.

Thank you to everyone who’s still been patiently following me; you guys are the best. ☺️

Edit: Since I was stuck on the parent’s name originally, a friend helped me come up with the parent’s name… which is now Phelix! πŸ”₯

“Check out my costume!”

“Do you mind? I’m trying to collect plants for a potion.”

“I thought you needed eye of newt.”

“Do you even know what ‘eye of newt’ is?”

“No, but I can recite to you the entirety of The Raven in at least three minutes. It goes great with my performance.”

“Yeah, ‘cuz sometimes, you can be a real clown.”

“Aw, thanks!”

(Sorry I haven’t posted in a long time! Life is very busy, especially nowadays in October, when I often work. But it didn’t feel right not to post. Halloween is my time of year.)

Have a happy Halloween, everyone! πŸŽƒ

Caitlyn and Wampus

Continuing on with characters based on legendary creatures, here are Caitlyn and her brother Wampus! They’re mischievous little cats who don’t mean any harm.

Caitlyn (the one with goggles) is a cait sith; she likes to hang out around graveyards and check out the flowers around the graves (mostly just to nibble the ones that are harmless to her). Some people believe that she steals the souls of those whose graves she happens to pass by, but she’s just curious about them. She also loves drinking milk and respects those who leave food and drink to stray animals on the street. In her spare time, she reads romance novellas just to giggle at them, proofread them for spelling errors, and pick out their plot holes. Otherwise, she prefers horror novels, especially Stephen King’s Thinner.

Wampus (the one with the spiked tail) is her little brother. Just as curious, he likes to whack things he’s never seen before with his tail. You can tell where he’s been because he tends to leave a trail of round holes in the trunks of trees. He’s playful and loves to wrestle. Some people think he’s all brawn and no brain, but he’s actually very well-read: his favourite book is Leo Tolstoy’s War and Peace, and he loves reading the poetry of Walt Whitman.

Together, they make a duo who love to explore and play pranks on others. They don’t mean any harm, though – it’s all in good fun.

The reason they dress the way they do is to protect themselves! They think the world is full of exciting danger and that they need to, as they say, “dress cool” to face it. (It also helps if their pranks backfire on them.)

Philip the Phoenix

Continuing with the supernatural creature inspiration, here’s a fiery little dude… specifically, a Phoenix chick.

This guy’s name is Philip! Although he looks cute and cuddly, he definitely has a fire burning inside of him, and not just figuratively, but literally. His firepower is immense – and he’s still learning how to use it. He’s small, but he has big dreams. Not only does he want to learn how to fly, he also wants to learn how to control his ability to spew and create flames. And so he practices every single day. He’s persistent and determined!

Cactus Cat

Hello! I’m back to posting after… five months. Wow. Time really flew.

Life happened. I was working a lot. I got back into Kingdom Hearts (crossing my fingers that KH4 is gonna be sweet!). I was drawing but it wasn’t really anything I would have liked posting (to be honest it was mostly fan art that I was sharing with my family and friends). I was working on my mental health through it all. (Anxiety can be murder.)

And then the new Rammstein album dropped and, well, I started liking my original work again. I can always count on my favourite band to get me back in the spirit and ready for action.

Anywho, my brain has decided to become even more fascinated by supernatural beings, legendary creatures, and fearsome critters than usual, so without further ado, expect some drawings of characters based on those creatures and concepts. Like this one!

This little dude is a cactus cat! They’re a fearsome critter from American folklore. Legend has it these guys use cacti as their homes and diets, nestling in holes they make in them and drinking cactus juice. They’re docile, although they can leave nasty welts with their tails if they’re feeling particularly defensive of their territories.

Anyway, I thought this would be a cute little comeback. Stay tuned for more drawings! It’s good to be back. 😊
